A total of 34 employers in the Portsmouth, Ohio area were recognized by the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation (BWC) for operating their business for one full year without any workplace injury or severe illness that kept workers away from work for more than one day. A volunteer group met up last summer in North Bay, Ont. at the Workplace Safety North (WSN) headquarters to discuss a workplace risk assessment. U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) handed out siz safety awards to six tire makers with operation in the United States for their excellent efforts in worker safety and health in 2017. The USTMA created new Leadership Awards that honor companies that promoted innovative practices to improve their workers safety.
