Ohio Awards Safe Workplaces
A total of 34 employers in the Portsmouth, Ohio area were recognized by the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation (BWC) for operating their business for one full year without any workplace injury or severe illness that kept workers away from work for more than one day.
BWC Administrator/ CEO Sara Morrison said. “Keeping workers healthy and productive is the type of commitment that we need to build a culture of safety in every Ohio workplace. Accolades aside, I’m sure there is no better reward for these employers than to see their employees go home safely to their families after each shift,”

Other awards that were given out to local businesses include The Special Award which recognizes employers with at least 500,000 hours and at least six months without injury, The Group Award which recognizes employers with the lowest incident rate in their business/ industry and the Achievement Award which recognizes employers with a reduced incident rate form the previous year by 25- percent or more.
